The Help
This is a must read--The Help. This book, followed closely by the movie, is a remarkable and seemingly accurate tale of race relations in the deep South during the Civil Rights Movement at the height of Jim Crow. I was intrigued by the relationships between the women in this book. They draw on your emotion and you find yourself cheering for change. You find yourself proud of these women and wish to know them personally. I was sad to see the book end. The movie proved to parallel the book and was a wonderful delight. Snow
I can promise you that my first blog attempt will not knock your socks off. But here it is...a rant, of sorts.
Snow, a creative title! Looking outside, as the snow continues to fall, I ask myself "is snow really necessary?" What purpose does it serve? Its coming often cancels schools, church services, college classes, interstates, head starts, and really makes it difficult to get to the mall when you have the day off. I mean, why waste a snow day. Why not head out into the mess to do some shopping? Storm warnings. What do they know? Slap the chains on and hit the road. Since Jazzercize is canceled, I have time on my hands. Maybe Lane Bryant will have the new full-figured leotards in that I have been looking for, because I am pretty sure, I am going to look fantastic in a leotard and tap shoes. Pretty sure. Ok, so I don't go to Jazzercise classes.
Snow is necessary for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, and sledding. Since I do not do any of those things, you can see why I would see no purpose for snow.
